The protagonist in his novels, former Public Defender Woody Thomas, shares some of Dix's background, but as the author is quick to point out--he is not Woody Thomas.

Raised on the Chesapeake Bay, Dix now lives and works near the warm, white sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico and is writing the next in a series of Woody Thomas novels.
